Country sweetheart Carrie Underwood laid her heart out on her sleeve during her recent Hamilton show.
After North Americans let Underwood into their hearts, she took the title of American Idol in 2005. Her performance showed the Hamilton audience why she won.
The Play On Tour kicked off with the awkward dance moves and strong vocals from opening act Sons of Sylvia. The new band from Canada sang all new songs and members showed off their fiddle-playing skills.
Second opening act Craig Morgan sang hits from his latest album That’s Why. During his performance he jumped off stage and got closer to his fans.
After the opening acts, Underwood rose from a floor platform. She arrived sitting on a revolving chair while singing Cowboy Casanova.
Underwood explained she couldn’t get through her song Temporary Home the first 15 times she sang it.
This time was no exception. Near the end of the song tears started to roll down her face, but the audience sang along to help her get through it.
She quickly wiped the tears from her face and continued with a more upbeat song, All-American Girl. She reached her Canadian fan base by changing the words from "All-American girl" to "All Canadian girl."
A big highlight of the night was when Underwood rode over the crowd in the back of a bright blue Ford pick-up truck while singing John Denver’s Take Me Home. When the song was over, the truck stopped and hovered over the crowd.
At this point Underwood said, "Oh ya, the only way to fly."
She walked circles in the back of the truck while singing This Time. During this song she made her way back to the stage.
Sons of Sylvia returned to the stage for a duet with Underwood. The two groups rocked the house together with What Can I Say.
Underwood recreated the Grand Ole Opry theatre while singing I Told You So.
A video clip of Randy Travis played behind Underwood to make the song a duet.
During Mama’s Song, Underwood showed off her musical talent and plays the piano.
The backdrop behind her showed pictures of her growing up, from her childhood to her Idol days. A cute moment came when she sang, "He treats your little girl like a real man should," and a picture of her and fiancée Mike Fisher appeared.
There was never a dull moment with Underwood’s numerous costume changes and jokes.
"How many times have you changed clothes tonight? I win," she says, followed by a laugh.
Her encore performance included an old favourite, Before He Cheats. Underwood used the whole stage while singing and showing her band members some attitude.
Underwood finished the concert with Song Like This.
In this tune, she incorporated other guy bashing songs White Liar by Miranda Lambert and Single Ladies by Beyoncé.
As the show ended confetti and streamers fall from the ceiling.
Carrie Underwood may sing about forgetting her last name but we never will.
