Death, more death and … more death.
Every season of the hit show Game of Thrones boasted just that … heads on spikes, heads on floors, heads anywhere but on people’s bodies.
For those who have read the books there weren’t many surprises but that doesn’t dull the pain of watching a favourite character take a sword to the throat.
George R.R. Martin is notorious for killing characters off with very little notice and according to the show’s writers, the deaths will continue.
Let’s pause for a moment to mourn the loss of our favourite characters … actually that would probably take years so it’s best just to move on.
The Season 4 trailer was released last week and fans exploded.
It was only a minute and 44 seconds long, but as the most pirated series online ever produced, after less than 24 hours it had nearly 4.5 million hits.
The new season premiere may be in April, and for fans that’s an eternity, but it’s all anyone can talk about.
The trailer provided fans with fleeting glimpses of everyone’s favourite and least favourite characters. It also provided the audience with a brief look at some new characters that will be joining in the game of thrones this season.
Jerome Flynn, who plays fan favourite Bronn, spoke at a panel during the 2013 New York Comic-Con, claiming that fans would be “quite surprised” by how differently the new season of the HBO show will be from the books.
Other actors from the show also mentioned at the panel that this season will have even more death in it … what a surprise.
Josh Skura, 29, in the Accounting program here, says there are a few things he enjoys about the show.
“Part of the fun is complaining about how far the show deviates from the books and the other part is knowing what happens because you read the book.”
Lindsay Lobins, of Niagara Falls, says she didn’t read the novels because they were simply too long.
“I actually think I enjoy the show more since I didn’t read the books.
I spend a lot of my time panicking about who is going to die next and what else could possibly go wrong?”
Cast members have hinted in interviews this season will hold more surprises and, yes, you guessed it, more death.
“They have a choice. They can live in my new world or they can die in their old one,” Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, can be heard saying in the trailer.
This season promises to be chock full of plotting and murdering and fans should hold tight to their house sigils.
