Apple Cider is now available.

Don’t miss what the Niagara College Teaching Winery is now offering: small batch ciders.

The Teaching Winery is now introducing its Cider 101 Single Batch Series, which come in a variety of unique flavours and hand-packaged champagne-style bottles.

“Cider is a good choice for people who are looking for something with a bit more sugar than beer, but less complex than wine,” says Alyssa Nuss, Niagara College Canada student in the Winery and Viticulture program.

“We started making the cider in response to the growth of the craft cider industry in Ontario and because a lot of our wine and brew students were showing interest in hard cider production,” said NC Teaching Winery Winemaker and Cidermaker Gavin Robertson, quoted in a press release posted on the Inside NC website.

“We launched our Cider 101 Single Batch series after having had some really good success with our initial, core brand Cider 101 product over the last couple of years.”

Robertson said that they started to experiment with barrel fermentation and ages and sometimes would add fruits such as cherries, peaches, plums and wine grapes.  Not only that, but they also tried different hop treatments and conditioning techniques.

The Cider 101 Single Batch Series is now available at the Wine Visitor + Education Centre starting at $14.95 in 750 ml bottles.
