The Niagara News is the community newspaper of Niagara College located in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. It is created and produced by the students of the Niagara College Journalism program.
Niagara College is emphasizing all the benefits of a tight, inclusive community as itcontinues to attract students and top all enrolment records.
According to a press release from the college, the Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses will be having over 2,000 students starting during the winter semester.
The message from the college seems to be: for a hands-on, post-secondary education and a warm, welcoming environment, Niagara College is the place to be.
“We are thrilled to welcome our new students to experience college life and begin their journeys to success,” said Niagara College President Dan Patterson in the press release.
“With our student-focused, inclusive approach to applied learning at Niagara College, we continue to attract students from across Canada and around the world to study with us.”
Niagara College has remained one of the top tier colleges in Ontario due to the increase of the five Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The five KPIs are Student Satisfaction, Graduate Employment, Graduate Satisfaction, Employer Satisfaction and Graduation rate.
Statistics show that last year had a student satisfaction rate of 78.4 per cent, a graduate employment rate of 89 per cent, a graduate satisfaction of 78.9 per cent, an employer satisfaction of 88.1 per cent and a graduation rate of 65.8 per cent.
Casey Fevriere, an International Response Representative, was a former Niagara College student and now helps international students with inquiries about the college.
“It’s a very welcoming place,” said Fevriere.
“It doesn’t feel like a school. It sometimes feels like a family.”
Niagara College has also been commended on their helpful staff and professors.
“The teachers are phenomenal,” said Office Administration Executive Co-op student Vanessa Keays.
“They’re easy to talk to and reasonable.”
Niagara College offers a multitude of services and facilities including a gym, wide variety cafeteria, library, campus store, student administrative council and more.
“You get treated like you matter here,” said Fevriere.
