By ALEX YORKE Staff Writer Niagara College received more than $1.4 million in provincial funding last week to build a Green Tech automotive lab as part of the Ontario Apprenticeship Enhancement Fund. This lab will allow for the College to adapt to an expanding electric car market in anticipation for future lithium ion battery powered vehicles like those produced by Tesla Motors. “I’m thrilled that the government is making a major investment to ensure Niagara apprentices receive the highest standard or training,” said St. Catharines MPP Jim Bradley at the official announcement at the college April 26. “The improved facilities and training programs announced today will give apprentices the hands-on experience they need to thrive in the skilled trades and contribute to our economy.” Construction of the new lab will begin this June and is expected to be completed by March 2017.
